A rational for service mediation  

In The 2 pin theory Jeff Schneider makes (perhaps unknowingly) a very good case for a service such as Grand Central. To do the dynamic negotiation that he illustrates you need a service to do the mediation, otherwise everyone must support all known technologies. As most companies are focusing on supporting fewer technologies and focusing on solutions the case for Grand Central becomes obvious.
